1. In what ways can we put into context...Black Feminist Thought as expressed in the film?

2. Can Betty Freidan's application of "traditional feminism" be applied to anyone or any scene in this film (obviously you must explain)?

3. Using Patricia Hill Collins and Michelle Wallace, how can we interpret the actions of any/all/each of the Black male characters in the film?

4. What does the film ultimately teach about feminism (regardless of color) - use the readings to analyse.

Best Wishes,

Not a John Mayer fan as it is, after his awful rendition of Michael Jackson's Human Nature by guitar (what a disgrace), I still couldn't help but look this up for further detail. It's interesting that after accusing his penis of being likened to a "White Supremacist," he still considered Holly Robinson as 'gorgeous,' but she wasn't smitten by his comment one bit. He's sorry of course. You can read more about this here. What do you think? What's to do now? Stop buying his music? Now what's that going to do? Hmmm...if we played devil's advocate for just a moment, couldn't we be safe in saying that we ALL have a preference when it comes to our desires/relationship interests? Why is his view SO offensive? Thanks for bringing this alert. Apparently, (and as reported) she claimed that she had no one to look after her infant son, and thus could not respond to deployment when required. The flipside says, her delay in deploying was not because of her childcare issues, it was deliberate. Now the question for you all is not whether she was "playing the system" or not, rather, should she have been dismissed for not responding to her call of duty? Does she have a duty to her family (her son) or to the country she serves by contract? You can get a better sense of the story here, before you decide to respond.
