I am many things: I am a woman of color FIRST! I am an academic, a dedicated professor of "ethnic" studies. I am a doting wife (when I have time). I am a part time friend to many, but a full time confidant to all. I have a full time affair with reading books and blogs, and love the smell of an old book, or a brand new book of fiction. I am a feminista. I love to listen to R&B, Hip Hop (sometimes), Jazz (all the time), classical (most of the time), Christmas Carols (during summer months), and Salsa and Merengue (when I'm in that kind of mood). I love homecooked food, a juicy Blimpie and a fruit punch or a Dr. Pepper, pounds of coffee, red bull, Tylenol pm tablets, and the way I feel when Dunkin Donuts gets my coffee right! And last but not least, I am a Hell's Kitchen native - I love my city, through and through, and cannot stand when people appropriate what clearly doesn't belong to them.
I cannot stand oppression (although it surrounds me daily), imitations of liberation (that too surrounds me every day), but I do enjoy engaging in many practices that help me, my family, and those who love to live freely. I cannot stand long lines, unhappy people, stereotypes and the typing of them, and the complete invisibility my sisters and I experience on a daily.
I conjured up this site for me, and for you -
